The Clement Nwankwo Annual Lecture on Civil Society has been named after Clement Nwankwo in recognition of his pioneering role in the 80s, which laid the foundation for what has become an organised third sector in Nigeria. Designed to hold once every year, the inaugural edition of the CNAL, tagged Celebrating Courage in Difficult Times, will unite pioneer civil society leaders with young activists and emerging leaders to spearhead the process for nurturing and entrenching innovation, capacity building and knowledge-transfer from the older to the younger generation of the Nigerian civil society.
