Ndey Sireng J Bakurin
Mrs. Ndey Sireng J. Bakurin is an Environmental Management and Sustainable Development expert with over 29 years of professional experience in environmental governance, natural resource management, climate change, gender, education, humanitarian action, human rights, and sustainable development. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (TANGO), the national umbrella body for NGOs and civil society organisations in The Gambia, and previously served as Executive Director of the National Environment Agency. She is also a co-founder of EcoKan and Women in Action (WIA), demonstrating her longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, and community development.
Mrs. Bakurin holds an MSc in Environmental Education, a BSc in Environmental Studies, a Higher Diploma in Agriculture, a Diploma in Environmental Education, and a Postgraduate Higher Diploma in International and Development Studies. She has further enhanced her expertise through extensive professional training in leadership, public policy, gender equality, climate change, social protection, human rights, and impact assessment. Her career has been marked by strategic leadership, policy influence, stakeholder engagement, capacity strengthening, monitoring and evaluation, and the promotion of sustainable development at national, regional, and international levels.
