Ebrima Jarbo

Mr. Ebrima Jarbo was born on 10 June 1978 in Ngayen Sanjal Village, Sabach Sanjal District, North Bank Region of The Gambia. He is a distinguished Gambian public administrator, governance specialist, and development practitioner with over two decades of experience in public service, institutional development, and civil society engagement.

Mr. Jarbo currently serves as the Executive Director of the NGO Affairs Agency (NGOAA) under the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs. In this capacity, he provides strategic leadership in regulating, coordinating, and strengthening the non-governmental organisation (NGO) sector in The Gambia while promoting effective collaboration between government, civil society organisations, and development partners.

He began his professional career in the education sector as a teacher and lecturer before joining the NGO Affairs Agency. Through dedication and exemplary service, he rose through the ranks from Programme Officer to Deputy Director, and subsequently to Executive Director, where he now oversees policy development, institutional reforms, NGO registration and regulation, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder coordination.
He holds professional qualifications in education and public administration, complemented by extensive training in leadership, rural development management, and institutional governance. His commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive development has earned him recognition as one of The Gambia's leading public servants in the governance and non-profit sector.

Throughout his career, Ebrima Jarbo has remained committed to strengthening the role of civil society as a key partner in national development, fostering good governance, and creating an enabling environment for NGOs to contribute effectively to sustainable socio-economic transformation in The Gambia.

As Executive Director, Mr. Jarbo has played a leading role in advancing reforms aimed at strengthening the legal and institutional framework governing non-governmental organisations in The Gambia. He has overseen stakeholder consultations on the proposed NGO Bill, promoted transparency and accountability within the non-profit sector, and championed collaboration between government and civil society to support national development priorities.
