Held in Abuja, Nigeria, between November 29-30,2024, Spaces for Change | S4C in collaboration with West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) organized the West Africa Civil Society Week (WACSW) 2024, bringing together over 140 participants from West Africa—comprising civil society organizations (CSOs), policymakers, regulators, law enforcement agencies, tech companies, cybersecurity experts, academia and the media—to explore the intersection of technology, governance, and civil society in the region.
Kicking off with theatrical displays featuring Nigeria’s rich diversity and cultural heritage, WACSW2024’s theme, “Technology and Civil Society in West Africa,” provided a regional platform for stakeholders to examine the extent digital technologies are either enhancing or threatening democracy, human rights, and civic engagement.
