SPACES FOR CHANGE | S4C West Africa welcomed 250+ delegates from 30+ countries within and outside the shores of Africa to the 3rd Africa High-Level Civil Society AML/CFT Conference 2026 [tagged 3AMLCFT2026], held in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, from 14–17 July 2026.

Themed “Implementing FATF Recommendation 8 Correctly: Practices, Lessons Learned and Opportunities for Reform, ” the conference brought together representatives of governments, law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units, national intelligence bureaus, regulators, charity oversight bodies, development partners, civil society and international organisations to discuss ways of building locally- rooted solutions for curbing financial crimes in the African continent.

Featuring expert-led masterclasses and intensive high-level plenary and parallel sessions centered around the conference theme, participants witnessed thought-provoking conversations and ample opportunities for learning, unlearning and relearning the tenets of FATF Rec 8 which obliges countries to ensure that measures enforced to combat money laundering and terrorism financing do not disrupt civil society or harm local communities.
